Happy Preservation Month! Whether on opposite coasts or a century apart as with New York City’s Tin Pan Alley and the Kurt Cobain childhood home in Aberdeen, Washington, music landmarks are being saved in communities across the country and the incredible stories of your efforts inspire us each and every day.
Whether you make a monetary donation, contribute your time, skills and resources as a volunteer or employed professional, attend an event, buy merch, take a tour or make a personal recommendation to family and friends, every ounce of your support matters and it takes everyone! We celebrate you during National Preservation Month and the whole year through!
DID YOU KNOW? Our founder Sheryl Davis was selected by the National Trust for Historic Preservation for its “40 Under 40: People Saving Places” inaugural list in 2018 for her innovative focus on music landmarks. Last year she wrote an article about the importance of the "People Saving Places” theme that was first introduced during National Preservation Month 2022.
We prioritize meeting people where they are by utilizing our resources to help achieve greater inclusivity and accessibility to opportunities for the public to learn about and experience the places that shaped our collective music history. If you are interested in discovering the exciting possibilities of supporting a music landmark near you for National Preservation Month 2023, we invite you to email us at info@musiclandmarks.org!
